I've already tried and failed, I've also tried a manual install and failed - if anyone wants to answer that question on the forum ;)

So now I've deleted my Exponential directory, uploaded a new Exponential-3.4.1.tar.gz and unpacked that directly on the server - in case my FTP corrupted something last time.

Nope! I still can't run the setup. I fail when it trys to connect to my database. I can connect to the database through SSH. I know the username & password are correct!

I see some other people having the same issue as me but no replies as how to fix it...

The setup should not need database connection to start. It will check this on the first page.

Do you get the first "Welcome" screen when you run index.php on your installation?
Where excactly do you get this error?

Please check that your webserver user can read all files from your Exponential installation.

Which PHP and Apache version are you using?

Sorry I wasn't clear. The Setup does run. However when it gets to the step "Database initialization" it says that a connection to the database cannot be made.

Since I posted I have tried to do a fully manual install. This results in my browser not receiving any data from my eZp site.

mySQL 3.2.58
Apache 1.3.29
PHP 4.0.6
