Workflow question

Hi,
I haven't yet used any workflows so I have alot of questions, but now I just wan't to know is this kind of thing possible to do...
(This is a other idea that came to my mind when I tried to accomplish this http://ez.no/developer/ez_publish_3/forum/setup_design/how_to_accomplish_with_this_any_ideas)

Here's what I need to accomplish:
I have articles that are stored in folders witch act as categories....
Everytime article gets published it first goes to folder "newest" and stores the category under it has been made. when an article in same category is published, it moves the older article from the newest folder back to the folder(category) it had been made and the newer article to the newest folder.
Then I need to fetch a list of the newest articles to my frontpage showing a link to the category under it has been made...

If anyone understood this ;) , Any suggestion would be very much welcome...

P.S. I know I've been bugging you with this problem of mine, but I really need some help or suggestions with this whole article system... I'm runnin' out of time... ;)
