Then the site.ini.append in /settings/siteaccess/[site]/ is read, and the IndexPage under SiteSettings is loaded. What I don't understand is what happens when IndexPage=/content/view/full/24 What does 24 refer to?

You can try the same node ID on the admin side to see where you are.
