Understanding how Exponential does galleries

I've created a Exponential website [http://www.bloudraak.com/] with a gallery [http://www.bloudraak.com/index.php/photography]. I am also using an application called IMatch [http://www.photools.com/] to manage my photos, of which some, may go into my gallery. So I'm trying to understand how the gallery module works, so I can integrate the two applications and get the desired effect. If you don't mind, please point me to information which can help. I know C#, C++, Java and Visual Basic.

I'm looking at writing an IMatch script that
1) Transform the image for the web by scaling it, adding a border, copyright notice and creating a thumbnail.
2) Create a gallery if it doesn't exist
3) Update images if it was added before, or add it

My goal is to manipulate the database directly using MySQL/ODBC. What tables do I need to reference; what do I need to be carefull of?

1) Find if a gallery with an id exists?
2) Add a gallery and determine its id
3) Find an image in a gallery
4) Update the image in the gallery
5) Add an image to the gallery; settings its thumbnail and large image
6) Remove the image from the gallery
7) Where do I FTP the thumbnail and large image?

If I can use SOAP or XMLRPC, instead of ODBC, then so much better. I have approx 1200 photos, which have full IPTC information, a description and name. So the batch upload doesn't work for me as that information will not be displayed on the website.

May I suggest that "Exponential" documents all the webservices it offers, just like Microsoft SharePoint does it. It will ease integration from other platforms.

<i>1) Transform the image for the web by scaling it, adding a border, copyright notice and creating a thumbnail. </i>
possible with ez
you can look in image.ini

IPTC: Exif export is possible in ez
You can use all pear packages via
http://ez.no/community/contribs/3rd_party/extension_ezpowerlib_pubsvn
http://pear.php.net/package/Image_IPTC/

or more directly via image.ini and
http://imagemagick.org/script/formats.php#embedded

Upload via webdav with automatic exif extraction.
http://ez.no/ez_publish/documentation/configuration/configuration/webdav_setup

SOAP is possible, too, search:
http://ez.no/content/search?SearchText=SOAP

ez can handle 6000 images without problems, 100.000 should be possible, too.
Greetings, ekke
