Hello,

I'm planning a future ez site and I'd like to define a sort of "Latest News" box filled with news from several rss feeds.

Is that easily feasible with the existing Feed module of ez components ? is there an example/documentation of how this is put in practice ?

Thanks in advance,

Artturi,

The RSS feed module works great. The documentation is at:
http://ez.no/doc/ez_publish/technical_manual/3_8/reference/modules/rss

I did create a custom class to receive the feed, and simple templates to display the data.

<b>rss_full.tpl</b>

<h1>{$node.name}</h1>

{if $node.object.data_map.item_author.has_content}
  by {attribute_view_gui attribute=$node.object.data_map.item_author}
  <br />
{/if}
<em>Date:</em>{attribute_view_gui attribute=$node.object.data_map.item_pub_date}<br /><br />
{$node.object.data_map.item_description.content}
<br />
<br />
<strong><a href="{$node.object.data_map.item_link.content}" target="_blank">Click for full text</a></strong>
<hr />
<h3>Source</h3>
<a href="{attribute_view_gui attribute=$node.object.data_map.channel_link}" target="_blank">
{attribute_view_gui attribute=$node.object.data_map.channel_title}</a><br />
{attribute_view_gui attribute=$node.object.data_map.channel_description}

Thanks for your help.

Things are still a lit obscure for me right now.

I've tried to define an RSS import in "Setup/syndication" but it's listed as inactive. I've runned the cronjob script but it hasn't changed anything.

Artturi,

There is a checkbox at the bottom of the setup options which allows you to make the feed active.

It sounds like you're close.

Thanks,

it was quite silly in fact : I just needed to click on "update" on the right of the feed link !

So, it works quite well. Now I have just to find a way to clean old content but that is probably mentionned somewhere.

Regards,
