I thought there was something wrong with the user/register.tpl settings because eZ used different templates (standard/override) depending on what section I was in when I clicked the register-button. But it turned out it was because the default override.ini.append.php had the user/register.tpl override set up by section, so it was my own fault :)

Probably not.
