Multiple sections or permissions

I am building a site to support the scheduling of events. I plan to construct a new content class for collecting the particulars of an event. A new Host user should have permission to create an event and change the details later if necessary.

Can eZ3 assign edit permissions to a specific content object i.e. only the user who created the event should be able to administer that particular event, no others. I relate this to a forum posting where the original author is the only person to edit the response. How is this done?

My other thought, is to create a separate section for each event. Is this a better model? Does this significantly degrade the performance by having 100s of sections?

Sorry if I am being vague. I am trying to understand my options.

Check the roles in the docs. There is an option "self" (to use in your case with edit/change) which does what you want.
