Limiting cpu usage when running cronjobs

Egg when noptification-sending cronjob is run for the 1st time after being disabled, the cronjob can take quite a lot of resources. Indexing too.

I found out the "cpulimit" command that could be helpful in such a case.

Has anybody ever used it? What are the alternatives?
