Is texttoimage with transparent background possible?

When I render text with texttoimage it has a white background which creates a problem on my green page background. Is a transparent image possible so that it can be used over a background image, or even a solid color background possible so it could match some of my solid backgrounds?

Have you tried 3.5? I believe that someone told me that the texttoimage function is updated in 3.5 and should be a little more capable. I am not sure about the syntax, but you might want to give it a try.

I have not actually tried it myself yet.
