So, even though my webserverprovider don't bother answering support inqueries, I assumed they had upgraded to php4.4 and went for the ez 3.7 upgrade.

Now my site works, allthough it's really slow. But no admin. I guess it's because the new install is not configured to usinng "plain" layout. Here's the result of trying to access admin:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/knutnes/public_html/lib/ezutils/classes/ezini.php on line 518
Fatal error: Exponential did not finish its request

The execution of Exponential was abruptly ended, the debug output is present below.

When following the install-guide I did the update scripts witout the "-s admin_siteaccess_name", as I didn't comprehend what to type here, my username din't work. Should the scripts be run with "-s plain_dbusr", or such?

When trying to clear cache, I got permission issues, so I checked out the cache folder in var, it was empty.

How do I get the admin interface to work? And why is the site so slow?

Thanks
Knut

The admin site was found when I ran the update scripts with "-s plain_admin". But my site is still VERY slow, it takes close to a minute to do anything. What could cause this? I cleared all cache from the admin interface. I'm guessing it's got to do with the database connection og interaction, since the I've got a fresh install. Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks
Knut

Check that Exponential / Apache does have permission to write to the cache directory, make sure you see eveidence of this. Check the Exponential logs in var/log also.

Thanks for your reply.

The var/log/ folder contains storage.log and error.log. Storage.log lists a bunch of php-files from the var/cache/ini folder. This prooves eZ/Apache have permission to write to cache... I assume.

But the error.log tells me root@localhost can't access the database, which is correct since that's not my username. Also "Using password: NO".

I've been looking around for a config-file, without finding one... I'll continue to look and search through documentation, but I still ask here, in case I don't find any. Where do I set the user/pass for the database?

Thanks

Database settings are usually set per siteaccess in site.ini.append.php section [DatabaseSettings]

Thanks for quick reply!

I edited the site.ini.append.php... and had a look at the error.log again, only to discover that these errormessages were a bit old... I probably allready managed to set the databaseinfo correct.

But site is still very slow. I checked the storage.log again and found the entry for my last site visit:

[ Dec 01 2005 09:47:16 ] [var/cache/ini/5b6aec4e339a4bb0d6f9337b0ae9a695.php]

I'm thinking some cache issue might cause slow site speed. But I really don't know. Any suggestions?

I've searched around a bit, but I cant figure out why my site is so slow. In addition there seems to be som access permission issues here. I get the message "You don't have permission to view this content" (the message is in Norwegian, so my translation is probably not identic to the English error message.

Also, I occationally get time out when trying to access the site. Might be browserdependent.

Help :)
