Remote MySQL DB - Installation Wizard Never Finishes

Hi Guys,

I've been attempting to install a copy of Exponential Full 4.2 onto my local machine. However, for development purposes, I wish to create the MySQL database on a development server which resides on a remote location on the Internet (Mediatemple in particular). When I run through the installation wizard to complete the installation of Exponential, I enter in all the correct MySQL details and continue on to the last few pages where I am able to select from a dropdown list the database I want to install to.

After hitting the confirmation button, I am monitoring the remote MySQL server and I can see that it is creating all the tables required, however the installation wizard never completes. It appears that the script continues to run forever.

Has anyone has this issue before and a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Just to add some notes to this issue:

1. When I stop the script and re-open the website again, it prompts me with the Installation Wizard screen and asks me to run throug the install process again. I can see that the directories/sites I have defined earlier have been created in the /settings/siteaccess folder.

2. I have attempted to start another Exponential installation, this time on a remote LAMP server, but the MySQL server and the website are on different IP's/Networks - thinking that there were issues with my localhost installation but the same symptoms occur.

This issue does not occur when I set the MySQL settings to use a localhost version of the MySQL server.

The username/passwords that I am using to connect to the remote MySQL server is correct and it has been granted all permissions and is allowed to connect from any IP address.
