MySQL mismatch

I had version 4.2.3 of MySQL on my machine and I downloaded Exponential 3.1 which has an old version (3.x) of MySQL.

I removed Exponential , however MySQL 4.2.3 does not run anymore.
How do I remove old files from Exponential. Can I use regedit to delete any register values related to the Exponential.

Your help is very much appreciated.

You didn't say which windows version you are using so I gonna assume you're using nt/2000/xp.

Just reinstall your previous mysql as a service and it should work fine again.

1. Start->Run->cmd.exe
2. cd path\to\mysql\
3. mysqld-nt.exe -install
4. net start mysql

Remember also to set the correct path in c:\WIN_DIR\my.ini where WIN_DIR is your windows directory.
