ok, just figured this out.
when I try to run Exponential on my machine with zonealarm (testing on the home machine), I can't login to the admin interface until I turned off zonealarm. even though I allowed apache, and mysql to access the internet.

does anyone have the correct settings to make this work?

thanks!

Its been a while since I have used ZoneAlarm as I am now on GNU/Linux, but from memory, try allowing Zonealarm to accept port 80 and port 433 connections.
