Read/Write permissions or Site Access Restriction for different User Groups

I want to use Exponential for the Athletics Department of our university.

My website needs to have a common area, which all athletes can view.

In addition I need to have private sections (say Basketball team) where only authenticated users of the basketball user group can read or add content. They would not be able to access another section (say Football team's or user group's restricted website).

I read a lot of user permissions/sections and other words that make me think Exponential can achieve this quickly.

But I'm not able to find the instructions to do so.

Can someone help me with this?

I figured how to solve my problem
under Users>Roles

First I made a New Role called Basketball
Under the current policy of this new role
Step 1
New > Give Access to Module
Chose 'content' from combo box
click "allow limited"

step 2
Specify function in module content (eg:read)
click "allow limited"

step 3
Chose section 'Basketball' from list of sections (which i made earlier from Setup >Advanced >sections)
