Importing content nodes to Exponential

Hi there,

Where could I find some information about how to import content to Exponential from another system? I suppose I need to build a customed PHP application to do the import - that's not a problem.

I have a database containing address information which I'd like to import to Exponential as nodes of customed "address card" content class. In addition to the address cards, I'd like to import also the groups we have collected the address cards as Folders to Exponential where the cards could be then located. I suppose this does not differ from importing any node?

How about performance of Exponential. Is it good idea to import 200-300 address cards as content nodes to the system instead of making a custom module to access the database?

Anyway - the main question: how to import content nodes from external application or system?

I would start here.

Also - the Packt book has some code that is useful. It is available for sale through this site.
