I updated MySQL to 4.1.7 (running with --old-passwords option on)
Everything went up fine, except a few things.

Problems:
ezstring text in French will show question marks (?) in any e acute intances or else. Futhermore, it is now impossible to edit any object. The system says the module is not found...

Anyone having these problems ?

I did change the ini settings for i18n, template and site to utf-8. Cleared cache. Converted the database to utf8_general_ci as instructed on this site

myisamchk -r -q --set-character-set=utf8_general_ci mydb/ez*.MYI
