I know form past experaince that if I now enable notifications, users will receive lots of notifications about all the updates I did over a few months. Is there any way to clear our all "lags" for updated content, so that only content updated from now on is emailed out via notifications. Thank you.

You can remove the rows from the eznotificationevent database table.
