Does anyone has any suggestions?

We have been using xajax and I think it's really great. And I know that another ajax library - JSON is under development right now, which has more Exponential oriented advanced features. But I don't know when it will be released.

Besides xajax and JSON, do we have other choices?

Please advise.

JSON is released and working on production.

For now, it has only read methods (a node, and a list of node), with various options (read the datamap, the owner...)

You've got a demo of a complete thing including client side templating on /json/explorer

Feel free to add features and complete the doc, you'll be more than welcome !
