Since I'm pretty clueless on this issues I refer my question to the community and hopefully someone of you guys have better insight than me.

ISSUE
I would like to use iNavigate's [http://www.cirkadia.com] menu in my Exponential site but before I purchase it ($50 USD) I want to know if it's possible to use at all.

I asked their support about which code iNavigate use and this the answer I got:

"iNavigate is a pure DHTML system and the menu is generated to each page in HTML. The XML file purely holds the menu structure by which the iNavigate software generates the menu from."

QUESTION
Is this compatible with Exponential - that is - possible to implement without too much hassle?

It could possibly integrate. I took a quick look and its an all javascript engine. You would need to look at relating content objects to each menu entry and that may take work.

If you are after a treemenu then take a look at the treemenu extensions available:

http://ez.no/developer/ez_publish_3/documentation/incoming/developing_projects/extensions/treemenu

Treemenu1 is demo'd on http://www.xrow.de

Treemenu2 is demo'd on http://www.pobox.co.uk
