Can you create a user content object without a user object?

Working with the PHP API, is there any danger of creating a user as a content class, and never creating the corresponding user account?

I've done this, and they appear under a user group. They have no user account and no password. When I want them to be "enabled," I edit them and add a username and password, and they can log in normally.

This seems to be working, but is there something I'm not considering with it?

Hi Deane

Can't see an issue with it as long as you are creating the content object in a proper eZ way via the API. I assume that the user attribute is marked as not required? Anything in particular you are concerned about?
